OUR HISTORY
The history of Industrias W. Wilches in Bogotá D.C. began in 1973. Mr. Wilson Wilches Rodriguez with just 10 years old in the company of his brothers in the afternoon, after arriving from school and doing their homework learned the art of shoemaking through his father Antonio Wilches Ruiz, who performed the work of Guarnecedor (assembly and sewing of the shoe), characterized by his discipline and order was teaching them the work to their children. At the age of 14 years in 1977 Don Wilson Wilches realized that he had certain characteristics and gifts for this work and went out as a good entrepreneur to work for a company, but no longer as an assistant as he did with his father, but as a guarnecedor which had better pay. This was only the beginning of a history of more than 40 years.
In 1981, at the age of 18, he joined GAMBINELLI, one of the most recognized footwear manufacturing companies in the sector for its quality and efficiency, and worked there for two and a half years. When he was only 20 years old, he decided to travel to Venezuela, because the earnings were three times higher than in Colombia. He worked there for one year and returned to work for another two years at GAMBINELLI, earning up to 11 legal minimum wages at the time. Don Wilson performed a physical activity and like any sport requires discipline, responsibility, time and perseverance; this not only helped to exercise the body but also to exercise the mind.
In 1985 with 22 years of age, he went to work for ORVAL another of the largest companies in the manufacture of footwear, no longer as a garment maker but as Head of Production, but soon after working decides to set up his first company, in a small workshop and with only three people began the adventure of entrepreneur; initially performed various tasks during the day, in the afternoons went out to buy materials, sell their product and meet more customers, and in the evening hours studied footwear modeling.
A few years later, around 1987, when production was increasing, he met Mr. Edgar Rincón, who to this day is one of the external partners of Industrias W. Wilches; the company had more than 50 employees and the footwear manufactured was for export to the U.S.A., a company that grew rapidly over five years, suffering a strong economic crisis, resulting in high levels of indebtedness to the financial sector and suppliers, so much so that Don Wilson decided to withdraw from the company.
In 1992 Don Wilson together with his co-worker Edgar Estrella, who already had a small structured workshop, decided to embark on a new mission to form a company which they worked for fourteen years, in which Don Wilson had the opportunity to travel to several countries (U.S.A., Mexico) carrying out the process of creating a new company. These were very enriching years in which many contacts were made, knowledge of new materials and new technologies; years in which Don Wilson met the gentlemen of BOSI.
During the years 2004-2005 the company suffers two strong falls because of the wrongly called friends of others; with the affliction in their hearts Don Wilson and Mr. Edgar make the decision to divide the assets and take each one a new direction.
It is there where we see the emergence of Industrias W. Wilches on that April 19, 2006, in the company of his wife Claudia Morales Aguirre and Mrs. Maria Hela Benitez, a company is reborn through perseverance and entrepreneurship, along with financial and moral support from the Lords of BOSI, the task of setting goals and pursuing dreams begins again; Don Wilson with all the experience and knowledge becomes a supplier of one of the best known brands in the country today, BOSI. To date, Industrias W. Wilches has a production plant supplied with high technology in machinery, helping to accelerate the process without neglecting the quality of the product and with a qualified human talent to fulfill each of the tasks, with all the above it can be said that with effort, dedication and work you can achieve your goals and fulfill your dreams.
In 2009, the process of research and contact with universities began, doors that opened to knowledge and innovation. Thanks to the Javeriana University, the study «distribution of plantar pressure in the curved sole shoe» was carried out, which made us participate in INNOVA 2009.
It is there where he meets Doctor JORGE REYNOLDS POMBO and makes the invitation to Don Wilson to participate in the project «the soldier of the Future»; starting the research and study of sophisticated materials for the development of the project «Intelligent Boot», signed by Doctor Reynolds the registration form of research project, technological development and innovation on February 15, 2012.
In 2010 the German brand NANOPOOL and on behalf of Industrias W. Wilches, Joyce Wilches began laboratory tests to develop a hydro-repellent liquid in leather and other textile materials; having as a favorable result the camouflage textile with water repellency developed in November 2014.
On June 18, 2011 the framework agreement for cooperation in science and technology between the NATIONAL ARMY – NATIONAL DEFENSE MINISTRY and the INDUSTRIES W.WILCHES COMPANY was signed, which has a term of execution for ten years.
In the same year Don Wilson travels to China in order to see more closely mega companies equipped with a high level of technology, materials and sophisticated processes in the footwear industry.
W. Wilches Industries and the UK company P2i with its patented technology of decreasing the surface energy of products by developing an ultra-thin polymer layer, turning water into small droplets that are easily removed from the product, signed a study of the technology on June 13, 2011.
On August 27, 2012 an agreement was signed between Industrias W. Wilches and the Universidad de los Andes for the development of a project called «study of waterproofing of leather and other textile fibers» which is developed on samples with silicon dioxide particles and the process of waterproofing of these samples was achieved.
On August 20, 2013 the specific agreement was signed for the development and implementation of the INTELLIGENT BOOT project for the production of 1000 prototypes equivalent to 500 pairs of boots, with technologies that the company inserted to generate greater welfare to the soldiers and had a satisfactory result. On October 27, 2014 the Direct Contracting of the development and waterproofing of a fluid hydro-repellency technique, which was applied in 500 meters of Dril Camouflaged Pixelated Camouflaged Dril fabric, which led to the development of the manual process machine with water repellency to treat the textile for military use.
On May 19, 2015, specific agreements were signed for the development and research of the projects «clothing for military use with silver thread fabrics», to improve the lifestyle of the personnel of the National Army of Colombia, generating comfort and safety through body aesthetics, preventing skin diseases, and the «load stabilizer backpack» to achieve the proper distribution of the elements according to their weight within the equipment and eliminate problems of muscle fatigue, lower back pain and wear in the joints.
At the beginning of 2018, a project related to the smart military boot is initiated, which arises through a program of Aldea, of innpulsa Colombia, where thanks to this project, our company manages to make contact with a company located in New York, United States, called SPRAYGROUND. The idea of the project began in publicizing the smart boot (already developed by Wilches and the National Army of Colombia), and consisted of making modifications, adjustments and prototypes alluding to the essence and designs used by the brand in their products. These entrepreneurs liked both the design and the properties of the intelligent boot, so our company began to create designs and prototypes of boots to send to Sprayground (in New York) for approval of the production of such designs.
Since then, the company has been producing and exporting these boots to New York, United States, which are in great demand by the public, since the last reference that Sprayground launched to the market, sold more than three hundred boots in just three days after putting them on sale.
Mr. Wilson Wilches is a clear example of a dreamer, restless and visionary spirit, who never gives up, who never gives up, he is a warrior who believes in human talent, who innovates every day, who is certain that doing business is the most beautiful and noble of the arts, because it is where man with his power of creation shapes and molds as a craftsman, what is possible to create, and says that so far we have started to climb the mountain, we must continue to persevere and dream until we reach the top.
